Good Night Pond
“We are having our first weekend in the house; floating around the space, living in a completely different way than we’ve ever done before.
It is absolutely extraordinary, Matt, and we can’t thank you enough.”

This pre-fabricated home was the first OpenHome project and was located within a 300-acre site. Carefully placed along a hillside, capturing views of Silver Mountain to the east and Good Night Pond to the south, the design goal was to create a “sanctuary in the forest” that is beautiful, well-built and timeless as well as modern, open, functional and efficient in its use of space. Every room has a framed view, a sequence choreographed into a larger story about place and time.
The home blends into the surrounding nature, complementing the environment and providing easy access to ancillary structures and nature-based activities. The home is designed to Passive House standards, has photovoltaic panels, is all-electric, off-grid, and is operational and embodied carbon neutral.
